I was lucky, I am in the military and they called it and gave us a snow day, hello 5 day weekend. Anywho, here is some pictures to let you all know everything wasn't all hunky dorey.

Kinja'd!!!

That's me getting the good 7 inches of snow off of my project car (Porsche 944, the wife decided to sit inside the house and take pictures of me), the son of a bitch has been on jack stands for quite a while, and I am paranoid as hell about cars being on jack stands, so I wasn't cool with an extra 200 pounds or so of snow on the car, so at 8 am in the morning I took all that crap off. But in all honesty I really don't care because it has been so cold outside lately that any time I get outside spending time with my car, just feels great. I was glad to at least be doing SOMETHING with my car today, even if it's only making sure she isn't freezing to death.

Kinja'd!!!

From my very rough and totally unprofessional estimate, I say there was a good 6 inches on the car on the top. It was a pain in the ass taking it all off, I was actually sweating when I was done. I also did my other two cars, because I am ocd like that.

How much work does she need to get out of the project phase? Thank you for serving! MSgt, USAF, retired.

Here in Colorado Springs, you will see clear skies, a LACK of snow, and 60 degree weather. Back to you, Bob.

Appreciate it brother, I'm still a lower enlisted, but I'll get up to your status someday.

And honestly, she doesn't need TOO much work, but at the same time she needs a lot, if you know what I mean. Off the top of my head she needs:

All new brake rotors/pads, rebuilt brake calipers (all around), new brake lines all around (upgrading to steel), clutch change over (I've got tranny dropped and bell housing/flywheel off, need to pull pilot bearing it's rusted in there). I'm in the process of cleaning and painting all of my calipers, and then rebuilding them, and then after I get the pilot bearing out I need to put everything back together, the hardest part is getting that torque tube back in between the clutch and tranny, need a bit of luck on that one. Then after I properly bleed the system, do all new fluid changes, and everything goes on good, I need to take it to a 944 specialty shop in order to do a timing belt change (I don't have the specific belt tensioner tool to do it), and all that stuff is just the stuff I absolutely need to do in order to keep it running, the stuff I really should do, is put in new motor mounts, and change the oil pan gasket. The pan gasket is going to be just a big pain in the ass because I have to drop the cross member, the only thing that holds the engine in place.

But when it comes down to it, it really doesn't bug me how much work she needs, I bought her for 3,000 dollars, and drove her for about 3 months before any problems arose, and in that time I learned to love the damn thing.

Cannot detect sarcasm.

Hasn't it been like -20 there lately? I've got a cousin at Fort Carson that always complains about it

I checked out a 968 recently, but the shop wasnt ready to give me a test drive. Sounds like you've got some mechanical skill, wish I had that.

Good luck on getting her back on the road!

It was sub-zero, this weekend it's back to 60s. I'm up in Denver, and yeah, the weather swings that wildly here.

Well, when I started fixing my 944 I didn't have shit for skill, I'm learning the hard way, but that is alright. I was prepared, I had the proper equipment, location, and motivation, that is all you need, just start wrenching, and don't look back. It is as easy as that. And if a 944/968 isn't ready for a test drive just go onto the next one, chances are it will be a LONG time before it's ready.

And thanks, I will definitely be posting on the oppo about her progress, I only like to post milestones, so keep an eye out. The thing is bright red you can't miss it.
